E-Scooters Featuring Ambient Lights
If you want to customize your ride, look no further than the Ninebot ES2, and Ninebot ES4, featuring Ambient Lights, that cast from under the footrest deck. And, to add your own personality, you can change the color as you like using the Ninebot's App. With your ambient lights and included front facing night light, you'll be well lit riding after dark. You can color coordinate with your Ninebot riding buddy. Ok, that's pretty Cool!
The Ninebot ES2 and ES4 and are in fact very similar electric kick scooters, and very portable. They both feature an internal stem battery, and you can upgrade the ES2 to add another external stem battery. The ES4 comes with the external battery included, meaning it has one internal stem battery and one external stem battery. Having both would increase your total distance range, and also add more top speed(mph) to your ride. Weight wise, and with the extra external batteries added, these e-scooters are just slightly over 30lbs(ES2, ES4), putting them in the lightweight category for electric kick scooters. They can fold down easily and quickly, and as such; can travel with you on public transportation, like a bus. Since they are front wheel drive, the heavier tire is on the ground when pulling it along, improving its' portability.

The extra battery pack is available to purchase online. It weighs 4.2lbs. It can increase top speed(mph) from 15 to 18, while adding double to the distance range - from 15.5 miles to about 28. Note: these top distances are based on optimal riding conditions; also, riding in a slower mode like 'Speed Limit' can also improve battery distance. Both scooters feature the Ninebot Smart Battery Management Systemwhich closely monitors the battery cells to ensure the battery safety and to extend battery life.

ES2 has a front wheel drive motor, featuring a non slip deck. Travel to a rated distance of 15.5 miles. Has a 10% hill climb, with its 300w rated motor, capable of 700w max output. It takes 3.5 hours to charge the ES2. Rider weight 220lbs. Water resistant at IP54.

ES4 has a front wheel drive motor, featuring a non slip deck. Travel to a rated distance of 28 miles. Has a 15% hill climb, with its 300w rated motor, capable of 800w max output. It takes 7 hours to charge the ES4. Rider weight is 220lbs. Water resistant at IP54.

Final Comments: Although these two escooter models from ninebot are still available on some websites, they are now considered older models from Segway, as they arrived to market about 5 or so years ago. Because of that, they do not feature prominently on their website. However, doing a search you can still find the models at Segway, with all their specs and features. And, if you do own one, you can access the support and repair tutorials at Segway for self repair work. As of this article edit(Sep 2025), all parts for these models are also still available at the Segway website.
Having said that, similar models are available from other brands, like HX which has the X7, and X8, models both having removable stem style batteries, that can be charged on or off the escooter. These two models are available at the HX website, Amazon website, Bestbuy(Canada), Smartwheel Canada website, and similar models are sold by Levy Electric and Turbo Ant(USA). And, you can buy them sometimes at Temu, AliExpress, and wholesale at Alibaba. So, if your keen on the removable stem battery style, any of websites have good selections. For escooters with ambient lights on the deck, Okai, and NiuKQi each have a model with that feature.
