Cable locks, which have been around forever are essentially a wired cable usually wrapped in a tough wrapping with either a key lock or combination lock to secure it. If you decide on the combination type, do look for one that has a 4 number sequencing, as this provides much better security than the traditional 3 number types. And, they also come with different degrees of wire width, so obviously the wider the tougher, but this also adds weight, so factor in your overall travel weight and choose one that is appropriate.
U-locks, are another popular choice securing your e-scooter; U shaped as the name suggests, and notably for their strong steel like character, which could in itself be a deterrent to a would be thief. They typically don't have the reach of a cable lock, but they are simple to secure, by placing around your e-scooter stem and then around the secured fixture. This can be key locked or combination also. Depending on the U's overall width, they can be lighter or heavier than a cable lock. These are in the same price ranges as cable locks, but depends on the brand and overall width and length you select.

Brake Disc Alarm lock is perhaps not as well known as cable and U-locks, but they can be very useful, by themselves, or together with a cable or U-lock. They simply attach to the disc brake that you see on the outside of the hub wheel on your e-scooter. And, Yes, your e-scooter must have disc brakes in order to use this type of lock. This Disc Alarm lock is also a u shape, but much smaller than the U-lock. To attach; you hold it just at the spacing in the brake disc, so the lock is on either side of the disc brake, and then you simply press to secure it. You can unlock it with usually a key. What's interesting about this type of lock, that if someone moves your e-scooter at all, the alarm will sound, at 110-120db, for a good number of seconds. With some brands, you can also deactivate the alarm if you want to. So, this type is also a good deterrent especially since it has the alarm feature in addition to locking your brake. GPS Tracker is a way to keep track of and find your e-scooter should it be stolen. These work by using an app connected to the small GPS tracker that you can attach to your e-scooter. Pricing for these depends on the features and the brand you select. If you own a very expensive e-scooter, it might be a good idea to use this type of security.
App Lock; if you purchase a new e-scooter, that comes with app compatibility, then you could have the lock - unlock feature included by using the app to engage and disengage this feature. This certainly won't deter a determined thief from walking off with your scooter, but used together with another lock type, would make your e-scooter more secure.
